Hekki Maps - Help

Hekki Maps is designed to work reliably in remote places. Below are quick answers to the most common questions.

Offline maps

  • Maps must be downloaded before leaving cell service.
  • Once downloaded, maps, routes, and tracks work fully offline.

GPS & accuracy

  • GPS works without an internet connection
  • Accuracy improves with a clear view of the sky
  • Dense trees, steep terrain, or canyons may reduce accuracy

Routes & planning

  • Create and adjust routes on the go, even while recording
  • Route edits are non-destructive. View history and switch routes in the Timeline
  • Edits are saved locally and do not require an internet connection

Recording tracks

  • Track recording works offline
  • Distance, elevation, and timing are recorded on device

Smart ETA

  • Continuously updates based on your progress
  • Adapts to your pace and terrain over time
  • ETA estimates are most accurate when hiking. Other activities, such as running or biking, may be less accurate

Battery Life

  • When hiking without cellular coverage, use Airplane mode to save battery
  • Keeping the screen on for extended periods will increase battery usage
  • Battery life will vary depending on screen usage, cellular signal strength, and device model
