Hekki Maps is designed to work reliably in remote places. Below are quick answers to the most common questions.
Offline maps
- Maps must be downloaded before leaving cell service.
- Once downloaded, maps, routes, and tracks work fully offline.
GPS & accuracy
- GPS works without an internet connection.
- Accuracy improves with a clear view of the sky.
- Dense trees, steep terrain, or canyons may reduce accuracy.
Routes & planning
- Create and adjust routes on the go, even while recording
- Route edits are non-destructive. View history and switch routes in the Timeline.
- Edits are saved locally and do not require an internet connection.
Recording tracks
- Track recording works offline.
- Distance, elevation, and timing are recorded on device.
Smart ETA
- Continuously updates based on your progress
- Adapts to your pace and terrain over time
- Optimized for typical hiking speeds. If used for biking, it will adapt over time but may be inaccurate at first
Battery Life
- When hiking without cellular coverage, use Airplane mode to save battery
- For long hikes, enable Map Battery Saver in Settings
- Map Battery Saver turns off 3D maps to conserve battery
